Netflix has confirmed when huge new music competition 'Building the Band' will be released.

Netflix has confirmed its huge new music competition 'Building the Band' will be released this Summer.

Nicole Scherzinger will serve as mentor and judge in Building the Band, in which a brand new global pop group will be formed. Joining her on the judging panel are Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne, while Backstreet Boys AJ McLean will host.

The twist is the contestants will form the band without being able to see one another.

“Building the Band is a brave and bold undertaking for all involved as we hand over power to the singers themselves to form their own band based on chemistry first,” says executive producer Cat Lawson. “With looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates? With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heart-stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the outcome is truly amazing, with bands forming who in my opinion are worthy of the very biggest stage!”

Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said: “People will be obsessed with Building the Band coming this summer, hosted by AJ McLean”.
