If you’re planning a night in front of the telly, there’s plenty on offer tonight, from heartfelt restorations and crafty creations to gripping drama and historical intrigue.
BBC One kicks off the evening at 8pm with The Repair Shop. Tonight, the Bear Ladies, Julie and Amanda, face their biggest challenge yet: a giant plush hound dog once gifted to the UK Elvis Presley fan club by the singer’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Decades of display have left it sagging and shedding stuffing, making this a restoration mission not to be missed. Other items include a treasured clock-cum-barometer, a Cypriot shepherd’s bag, and a vintage sewing machine won in a 1982 fashion competition.
At 9pm, it’s The Great British Sewing Bee, celebrating children’s week. Contestants embrace adaptive fashion, first crafting mini dungarees before moving on to outfits inspired by the youngsters’ dream careers—from polar explorer to beekeeper to politician. The transformation challenge sees them creatively repurposing maternity wear into stylish toddler ensembles.
BBC Two offers sporting excitement from 6pm with The Hundred. Tonight’s match features Trent Rockets Men taking on Manchester Originals Men at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, kicking off at 6.30pm. Last year’s encounter saw the Rockets claim a thrilling one-run victory thanks to Tom Banton’s explosive 45 off 22 balls. Alex Hartley and Rick Edwards host with expert analysis from Alastair Cook, Steven Finn, Tash Farrant, and Carlos Brathwaite.
Over on ITV1 at 8pm, Midsomer Murders: The Debt of Lies unfolds on the exclusive gated estate, Challis Court. The community of retired police officers is rocked when a newcomer is found dead, and Barnaby quickly suspects that the murderer may be one of their own. Neil Dudgeon stars alongside Tom Conti in this tense crime drama.
Channel 4 continues its original drama In Flight at 9pm. Dom warns Jo about the dangers posed by Cormac, but she ignores him and attends a mysterious meeting. Meanwhile, Mel grows suspicious, a new witness emerges in Sonny’s defense, and Jo teams up with ally Kayla to devise a bold new plan.
Finally, Channel 5 delivers two fascinating factual programs. At 8pm, Coastal Adventures with Helen, Jules & JB explores Anglesey’s tragic 19th-century shipwreck, Sunderland’s wartime shipyard heroines, and a quirky Mersea Island vineyard beer brewed with oysters. At 9pm, Pompeii: Life in the City examines crime and danger in the ancient city. Dan and Kate Lister reveal the extreme security measures taken to protect Pompeii’s wealthy homes, including guard dogs, massive locks, and bouncers, as well as the darker side of entertainment where a day of leisure could end in murder.
Whatever your mood—restoration, creativity, sport, crime, drama, or history—tonight’s TV schedule has something to keep you glued to the screen.
