HBO Max has unveiled the official teaser for the upcoming original series Harry Potter, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The preview was revealed during the HBO Max UK & Ireland launch event, just ahead of the platform’s official launch.
The eight-part first season is set to premiere at Christmas 2026 on HBO and will stream exclusively on HBO Max in regions where the service is available, including newly launched territories such as Germany, Italy, and - the UK & Ireland, where HBO Max is included in Sky TV and NOW subscriptions.
Story
There is nothing special about Harry Potter - at least that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.

The series features Dominic McLaughlin in the title role of Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
They are joined by a notable ensemble including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Based on the bestselling books by J.K. Rowling, the series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will also serve as executive producer and direct several episodes.
