Series 2 of Adrian Dunbar’s hit drama Ridley starts tonight at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
In the second series of ITV’s detective drama Ridley, Adrian Dunbar reprises his role as the titular retired detective-turned-police consultant, tackling fresh cases across the north of England. He once again teams up with his former protégée, DI Carol Farman—played by Bronagh Waugh (The Suspect, Unforgotten, The Fall)—who now leads the investigations.
Created and written by award-winning writer Paul Matthew Thompson, one of the principal writers of ITV’s Vera, and co-created by Jonathan Fisher (Blood, Hollington Drive, Penance), Managing Director of West Road Pictures, the series also features episodes penned by Julia Gilbert (Midsomer Murders) and Michael Bhim (Vera).
The original cast returns for this four-part series, filmed on location across the North of England. Terence Maynard (Time, Coronation Street) appears as DCI Paul Goodwin, George Bukhari (Years and Years, The A Word) as DC Darren Lakhan, and Georgie Glen (The Crown, Call the Midwife) as pathologist Dr Wendy Newstone. Bhavna Limbachia (Citizen Khan, Coronation Street) returns as Geri, while Julie Graham (Shetland, Penance) reprises her role as Annie. Joining the cast is John Michie, who plays Harry Bentham—a charming, self-made jeweller competing with Ridley for Annie’s attention.
The opening episode sees Ridley drawn into a case when a jewellery heist turns violent, leaving the robbers on the run with their spoils. When an involved party is brazenly murdered in daylight, Ridley and Carol face a race against time to unmask the criminal mastermind before more lives are lost. Guest stars in episode one include John Henshaw (The Long Shadow) and Christine Bottomley (Domina).
