Love the Live Lounge? Say hello to the Rave Lounge…
On March 30 2018, the four-day Easter weekend kicked off with an almighty bang: the first ever Rave Lounge. Hosted by Annie Mac and Danny Howard, some of the world’s finest dance acts took over Radio 1 for a mammoth five-hour show, playing back-to-back until the early hours of Saturday morning.
You already know the Live Lounge, where artists pop by Radio 1’s studios to cover their favourite songs and play a selection of their own. Think of the Rave Lounge as a party-starting cousin to the Live Lounge, one who stays up all night and shuffles home at sunrise.
The first ever Rave Lounge packed huge names and some seriously big talking points.
This year, Radio 1’s Dance family including Danny Howard, Arielle Free, Sarah Story and Connor Coates.
In previous years, Radio 1 has experimented both with live video streams and a “virtual rave” environment, so expect to be able to do more than just listen.
The massive shows follow a whole day of Radio 1 Dance specials, kicking off at 7am with Dean McCullough.
From 10.30am, Nat and Vicky continue the big tunes before Sam and Danni take over at 1pm with Radio 1 Dance Party Starters.
The Rave Lounge begins after a break for the Official Chart Show with Jack Saunders, airing between 4pm and 6pm.
Radio 1’s Rave Lounge is part of a big weekend of programming on the station, which will also see an Indie takeover on Easter Monday.
