ITV has officially recommissioned Piglets, one of its standout comedy hits of 2024, for a brand new second series, set to air on ITV1 and ITVX.
Filming is now underway on the new six-part series (6 x 30 minutes), produced by Monicker Pictures.
The first series proved to be one of ITVX’s top-performing comedies, attracting a total audience of 5.6 million across its six episodes. It launched in July with an impressive 2.8 million viewers.
2024 marked a record-breaking year for comedy on ITVX, with 166 million streams—an increase of 20% year-on-year. The upward trend continues, with over 70 million comedy streams already in 2025, up 32% compared to this time last year.
Commissioned by ITV’s Head of Scripted Comedy, Nana Hughes, Piglets follows a mismatched group of six rookie police trainees and the few brave staff responsible for turning them into something resembling real officers.
Returning for the new series are Sarah Parish as no-nonsense Superintendent Julie Spry and Mark Heap as kind-hearted Superintendent Bob Weekes. They’re joined again by Colin McFarlane as the eccentric Chief Superintendent Cunningham, Rebecca Humphries as hyper-organized Head of Admin Melanie, and Ricky Champ as the perpetually irate trainer Daz.
The original trainee squad is also back: rule-stickler Afia (Halema Hussain), actor-aspirant Dev (Abdul Sessay), socially awkward Paul (Jamie Bisping), and reluctant voice of reason Geeta (Sukh Kaur Ojla).
The second series introduces two new recruits: chatterbox Danni (Madelyn Smedley) and mysterious newcomer Connor (Kerr Logan).
ITV’s Head of Comedy, Nana Hughes said “We are absolutely thrilled to bring back the attention-grabbing Piglets for a second series on ITV.”
With its signature quick wit and brisk pace, the upcoming season will see Paul struggle with his new status as a "double prune," Weekes and Spry fight to keep their jobs amid Chief Cunningham’s increasingly bizarre decisions, Daz unexpectedly finds romance through anger management, and the team deals with everything from a trainee wedding to a high-stakes rooftop chase.
