The War Between The Land and the Sea is about climate change says Russell Tovey
Entertainment News: Russell Tovey has given further insights into new Doctor Who spinoff series The War Between The Land and the Sea.
Doctor Who spin-off: The War Between Land and the Sea will include plot elements relating to climate change.
Russell Tovey revealed the insights during a conversation with Rylan Clark at the Edinburgh TV Festival. He said "It's set in our world. Climate change is a huge factor, again it needs to be factored more into art so we really get an understanding of it."
Giving further details about his character and the storyline, Tovey added "It's this narrative of this guy who, basically, as Jane [Tranter, executive producer] said in the introduction, he's someone who works in the offices and books people's taxis, but by some series of events, he ends up becoming a very important figure in the world, and having to understand that role and what that entails.

Speaking about the series previously, Showrunner Russell T Davies said: : “I’m so lucky to work with such a magnificent cast. And this is a huge, muscular, thrilling drama which will shake The Whoniverse to its foundations. When the Doctor’s not in town, the whole of humanity is in trouble.”
The official synopsis reads: "When a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing themselves to humanity, an international crisis is triggered. With the entire population at risk, UNIT step into action as the land and sea wage war".
The series will debut this Autumn on BBC One, iPlayer and Disney Plus.
