The BBC’s smash-hit psychological thriller Doctor Foster is officially returning for a third and final chapter, nearly ten years after viewers were first hooked by Gemma Foster’s quest for revenge. Set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK next year, the series will also stream on BritBox in the US.
Created and written by Mike Bartlett, the new five-part drama brings back core original cast members Suranne Jones, Bertie Carvel, and Tom Taylor to reprise their roles as Gemma, Simon, and Tom. Joining the ensemble is Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow Horses, Criminal Record), who steps into the role of Callum, Gemma’s new partner.
Also returning to the fold are familiar faces Adam James (as neighbour Neil), Thusitha Jayasundera (as Ros, Gemma’s colleague and friend), and Anna Madeley (as Lucy).

A Fresh Start with Echoes of the Past A decade after discovering her husband’s infidelity, GP Gemma Foster appears ready to turn the page. The hit series captured nearly 10 million viewers for its season two finale, earning both commercial success and critical honors—including a BAFTA win for lead actress Suranne Jones.
The final installment is produced by Drama Republic (a Mediawan Group Company) alongside Fictional Company and TeamAkers Productions. John Hardwick (One Day) directs, with Nige Watson (Killing Eve) producing. Executive producers include Roanna Benn, Jude Liknaitzky, Mike Bartlett, and Suranne Jones, with the series commissioned by BBC Director of Drama Lindsay Salt. Global distribution is managed by BBC Studios.
