Channel 5 has released the first look images from the highly anticipated sixth season of All Creatures Great and Small, confirming the beloved drama will return to screens in the UK this Autumn. The series will then air on MASTERPIECE PBS in America in early 2026.
Season 6 takes viewers back to the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, where the warmth of human kindness and the timeless bond between people and animals remain at the heart of the story. But this new chapter sees the Skeldale House family navigating a world in transition, as we rejoin them in 1945, just as the war in Europe draws to a close.
Veterinary advancements, expanded families, and new arrivals await in Darrowby, as James Herriot and his friends look ahead to a brighter, more peaceful future. Alongside heartwarming tales of creatures great and small, the season promises to explore how the characters adapt to the opportunities—and challenges—of a rapidly changing world.
Nicholas Ralph reprises his role as devoted vet James Herriot, with Samuel West returning as the brilliant yet mercurial Siegfried Farnon. Anna Madeley once again portrays the ever-reliable Mrs. Hall, while Rachel Shenton returns as Helen Herriot, now fully immersed in life at Skeldale. Callum Woodhouse continues as the playful Tristan Farnon, still serving with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Patricia Hodge reprises her role as the glamorous Mrs. Pumphrey, always accompanied by her beloved Pekingese, Tricki. Also returning are Tony Pitts as Helen’s no-nonsense father Richard Alderson, and Imogen Clawson as her spirited younger sister Jenny.
This season also welcomes a slate of exciting new cast members. Lucy-Jo Hudson (Hollyoaks, Wild at Heart), Gaia Wise (The Dead of Winter, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim), Jonathan Hyde (Titanic, The Brutalist), Philip Martin Brown (Waterloo Road, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), and Chris Gascoyne (The Feud, Patience) will all bring fresh faces to the Dales. They join familiar returning guest stars Mollie Winnard, Conor Deane, Cat Simmons, and Lamin Touray.
All Creatures Great and Small Season 6 will feature six episodes plus a Christmas Special, ensuring fans can look forward to plenty of heartwarming stories, a touch of mischief, and the enduring charm that has made the series a favourite with audiences around the world.
