Neighbours legend confirmed for Strictly
Stefan Dennis will compete in Strictly Come Dancing this year
Stefan Dennis has been announced as the twelfth celebrity joining the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The multi-award-winning entertainment show, produced by BBC Studios, will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this September.
Stefan is best known for playing Paul Robinson in Neighbours, the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. He first took on the role in the show’s debut episode in 1985 and went on to appear in more than 6,000 episodes over its 40-year run. Before Neighbours, Stefan had a prolific television career in Australia, appearing in series such as Prisoner, The Henderson Kids, The Sullivans, Young Doctors, and Sons and Daughters.
His credits also include appearances in The Bill, Dream Team, River City, and Casualty, as well as a leading role in the West End musical Blood Brothers.
Speaking about joining Strictly Come Dancing, Stefan said:
“This is an opportunity for me to once again learn to step out of my comfort zone in the world of television. Looking forward to the sparkle and reaching for the sky.”
The news was announced on ITV’s This Morning. The remaining celebrity contestants for the new series will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Strictly Come Dancing is a BBC Studios Entertainment production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. It was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. The Executive Producer is Sarah James, with Nicola Fitzgerald and Jack Gledhill as Series Editors, and Jo Wallace as the BBC’s Commissioning Editor.
The new series will launch this autumn.
