James Whale has said a last “goodbye” to his fans in a final podcast episode, recorded at the hospice where he is receiving end of life care.
The 74 year old presenter was seen in a clip which aired on TalkTV last Friday night. He was speaking with his wife Nadine Lamont-Brown, when he said: “We’ve had a good time together haven’t we?” to which she replied “the best”.
He said: “Thank you for being a listener. I hope it helps in some way and who knows what’s next, so I can only say au revoir.”
James Whale is a veteran British broadcaster known for his outspoken style and long-running presence on UK radio and television. He rose to prominence in the 1980s with The James Whale Radio Show on Metro Radio, later transitioning to late-night television with The James Whale Show on ITV, where his provocative interviews and unscripted monologues gained a cult following. Throughout his career, Whale became known for tackling controversial topics and challenging callers head-on, often blending current affairs with caustic humour. He has worked across stations including Talk Radio, LBC, and talkSPORT, maintaining a loyal audience over decades. Despite occasional controversies and clashes with regulators, Whale’s confrontational yet compelling style has made him one of the most recognisable voices in British talk radio.
James announced in May that he had stopped his treatment following a five year battle with stage four cancer.
