Capital announces schedule shakeup
There are changes to Capital's schedules coming in this Spring.
Capital has confirmed a series of schedule changes across its early breakfast, overnight and weekend programming, as the UK’s biggest hit music brand continues to evolve its on-air lineup.
The updates introduce a refreshed rota of presenters across key off-peak slots, while maintaining continuity with familiar voices for listeners tuning in overnight and at weekends.
New Early Breakfast and Sunday Morning Host
Joe Hollywood takes on an expanded role within the station, stepping into Weekday Early Breakfast (4am–6am) as well as Sunday Breakfast (9am–12pm).
The move positions him as one of the key voices guiding early risers through the start of the day, while also anchoring a major weekend daytime slot.
Joe Hollywood has impressed station bosses at Capital this year.
Overnight Line-Up Reshaped Across the Week
Capital has also confirmed a reshuffle of its overnight presenters, ensuring consistent coverage throughout the week:
Lee Juggurnauth will host Monday and Tuesday Overnights (1am–4am)
Tom Watts takes on Wednesday to Friday Overnights (1am–4am)
Rebecca Daniels will lead Saturday and Sunday Overnights (1am–5am)
Tom Watts’ role expands further, as he also steps into Sunday Evenings (7pm–10pm), giving him a prominent presence across both late-night and weekend programming.
Ant Payne Remains Part of Capital Line-Up
Fans of Ant Payne will still hear him on the station, as he continues to host a weekend show, maintaining his connection with Capital’s audience.
Elsewhere, the Capital brand continues to thrive.
Capital Continues to Dominate UK Radio
The schedule changes come as Capital continues to lead the UK commercial radio market, reinforcing its position as the UK’s No.1 hit music station.
The Capital brand now reaches 9.2 million listeners every week, outperforming BBC Radio 1 across reach, listening hours and audience share.
Its flagship show, Capital Breakfast with Jordan, Chris and Siân, attracts 2.8 million weekly listeners, with continued growth in reach and engagement.
Strong Growth Across Capital’s Digital Stations
Capital’s wider network of stations is also seeing strong performance:
Capital XTRA now reaches 1.9 million listeners weekly, staying more than 1.1 million ahead of BBC Radio 1Xtra
Capital XTRA Breakfast with Robert Bruce & Shayna Marie pulls in 605,000 listeners each week
Capital Dance attracts over 1 million dance music fans weekly
Capital Anthems reaches 563,000 listeners each week
Strategic Moves to Strengthen Listener Experience
These latest schedule updates reflect Capital’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its offering across all dayparts, particularly during overnight and weekend slots where listener habits continue to evolve.
By blending established presenters with new scheduling opportunities, Capital aims to maintain its strong connection with audiences while continuing to grow its reach across both traditional and digital platforms.
The refreshed line-up is expected to roll out immediately, with listeners able to tune in via FM, DAB, Global Player and smart speakers.
