Film lovers and music enthusiasts are in for a treat tonight as Sky Arts presents a blockbuster evening dedicated to some of cinema’s most unforgettable soundtracks. From 9pm, audiences can immerse themselves in two hours of the music of legendary composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Ennio Morricone, alongside vibrant new scores from modern movie hits.
The spectacular concert features a line-up of celebrated soloists including guitarist Alexandra Whittingham, Latvian string duo the Balanas Sisters, organist Anna Lapwood, and soprano Aida Garifullina. Together, they perform beloved themes from classics like Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, The Lord of the Rings, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Joining them on stage are The Bach Choir and the acclaimed Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra – an official partner of Classic FM – under the baton of renowned theatre and film conductor Anthony Gabriele.
Ahead of the broadcast, Philip Noyce, Classic FM’s Managing Editor, shared his excitement:
“Following the recent launch of our new sister station Classic FM Movies, it’s exciting to announce our new live concert – Classic FM Live at the Movies with Viking – dedicated to film music. Powered by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and a line-up of star soloists, it will be a spectacular evening of the greatest blockbuster film scores, at the home of our live Classic FM events, the Royal Albert Hall.”
The concert, filmed at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in April, is hosted by Classic FM presenters Alexander Armstrong, Myleene Klass, and Dan Walker, promising a night that blends the magic of the movies with the grandeur of a live orchestral performance.
