Where to watch the best TV on tonight: Tuesday 26 August
If you’re planning a night in front of the tv, there’s plenty of choice across the main channels this evening — from gripping reality courtroom drama to a colourful fashion challenge.
BBC One – 9pm – The Great British Sewing Bee
The sewing room is back in full swing as the competition continues with three art-inspired challenges. First up, the contestants follow a pattern for a baby-doll dress, drawing inspiration from Turner Prize-winning artist and potter Grayson Perry. Next, the Transformation Challenge sees them turn paint-splattered overalls into striking asymmetric outfits. Finally, the Made to Measure round takes a bold turn, as the sewers channel the bright colours and geometric forms of pop art to impress the judges.
BBC Two – 6pm – The Hundred: Northern Superchargers v Manchester Originals
Live cricket coverage comes from Headingley, Leeds, as the Northern Superchargers take on the Manchester Originals. Last year’s clash on this ground ended in a 14-run victory for the Superchargers, with England’s Harry Brook smashing 58 runs off 33 balls. Despite that win, the Superchargers narrowly missed the play-offs, while the Originals endured a tough season with just one victory. Can they turn things around this year?
ITV1 – 9pm – Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Celebrity Special
Jeremy Clarkson hosts a star-studded edition of the iconic quiz show. Tonight, Stephen Fry and Olympic sprinter-turned-broadcaster Jeanette Kwakye step into the hot seat, hoping to raise big money for their chosen charities. With lifelines like Ask the Audience, Phone a Friend and 50-50 at their disposal, will they be able to keep their cool and go all the way to the million-pound question?
Channel 4 – 9pm – The Jury: Murder Trial
The BAFTA-winning format returns with another thought-provoking real-life case. This time, a young mother admits to stabbing her boyfriend with a kitchen knife but claims it was an act of self-defence. The case is restaged with actors in Liverpool Crown Court and put before a jury of 12 ordinary people drawn from the local area. As the prosecution presents its evidence, jurors begin to question whether the defendant was a victim of abuse or guilty of murder. Their verdict will reveal how real people interpret the complexities of the justice system.
Channel 5 – 9pm – Passage to India: A Yorkshire Vet Special
Huddersfield vet Rohin Aojula embarks on an emotional journey back to his family farm in Punjab, joined by his father and fellow Yorkshire Vet star Peter Wright. Together, they set up a makeshift clinic to provide vital treatment for animals in rural communities with limited access to veterinary care. Along the way, they help injured stray dogs, and Peter has the chance to examine his very first buffalo.
📺 Whether you’re in the mood for real-life drama, high-stakes quizzing, sporting action, or a trip abroad with Yorkshire’s favourite vets, there’s plenty to keep you entertained tonight.
