Warner Bros. has officially adjusted its holiday calendar, moving the upcoming animated Christmas feature Margie Claus back by one week. Originally slated to hit theaters on November 5, 2027, the holiday comedy will now premiere on November 12, 2027.
The animated feature flips the traditional holiday narrative on its head. When Santa Claus mysteriously vanishes on Christmas Eve while delivering presents, his sweet and steadfast wife, Margie, must assemble an unlikely rescue team. Leaving the North Pole for the first time in decades, Margie embarks on an epic journey to save her husband—and rescue Christmas for the world.
The project features a star-studded voice cast led by Melissa McCarthy as the titular Margie Claus and Andrew Scott as Jack Frost.
McCarthy, who recently starred in Netflix’s comedy Unfrosted (2024) following her turns in Genie (2023) and as Ursula in the live-action The Little Mermaid (2023), continues her run of comedic and high-concept lead roles. Scott comes to the project following acclaimed performances in All of Us Strangers (2023) and Netflix’s mystery series Ripley (2024), alongside feature appearances in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025) and Blue Moon (2025). His next movie is a World War II film, Patience, which is streaming now in the US and heading to Cinemas in the UK this September.
Joining the pair in the ensemble voice cast are Annie Mumolo, Cole Escola, Georgette Falcone, Octavia Spencer, Gary Farmer, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Cedric Yarbrough, and Maria Bakalova.
Directed by Kirk DeMicco (The Croods) from a script penned by Ben Falcone and Damon Jones, the film will also feature original musical numbers written and produced by Grammy-winning pop star Meghan Trainor, alongside Falcone and Jones.
McCarthy expressed her excitement over the project and the upcoming theatrical rollout:
“I love Christmas so much, and so does Margie Claus,” said McCarthy. “Our story is about showing up for the people you love the most at the holidays, and it’s a reminder that you don’t have to be perfect to be lovable. It’s been so special to make this movie with Ben, Kirk, Michelle, Damon and are you kidding me? We got Meghan Trainor, Chef’s kiss! Ben and I can’t wait to get on our sleigh next November and throw Christmas cookie and ugly sweater parties at theaters across the globe. We’ve always wanted to tour the amazing movie theaters all over the world, and this is the perfect way to do it. We can’t wait to see you there! Ho Ho Ho!!”
Produced by McCarthy and Falcone under their On the Day Productions banner alongside Oscar-winning producer Michelle L.M. Wong (KPop Demon Hunters), Margie Claus lands as part of a stacked upcoming slate from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
