As hype reaches a fever pitch for Friday’s release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, star Tom Holland opened up about the grueling post-production process—and one specific edit of the film that almost ruined the magic.

Speaking to Quotable, the Peter Parker actor noted he and his co-stars have “seen loads of different cuts” of his latest MCU outing, which premieres Friday in theaters, including one they “hated.”

“What’s really interesting is, we’ve seen loads of different cuts of this movie, and one of the cuts was, they took all of the notes from all of the random people that saw the film, and they changed the movie,” he told Quotable. “And then, we watched it and we hated it.”

Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is facing severe new scrutiny following the release of an explosive BBC documentary detailing allegations of unlawful sexual conduct from multiple women.

In Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, ten women share accounts of their interactions with the 54-year-old actor between 2002 and 2016. Nine of the women involved are sharing their stories publicly for the first time.

The documentary highlights detailed testimonies from several women using pseudonyms:

• Isabel alleges she was sexually assaulted by Leto in a Las Vegas motel bathroom in 2002 when she was 17 and he was in his 30s. She claims he grabbed her hand and used it to masturbate himself while in the shower.

“Alarms started going off in my head,” she said. “In that moment, I definitely realized I was not in a great situation.”

• Alex claims that after a 2013 Thirty Seconds to Mars concert at London’s O2 Arena, she was invited to an after-party but ended up alone with Leto in a dark hotel room. When the then-19-year-old suggested sleeping on a chaise longue, Leto allegedly threatened her, telling her she would wake up “with a dick in her ass.” Alex subsequently left and texted a friend, who replied:

“He was threatening sexual assault, you should report him.”

• Clara states that in 2006, at age 17, she had sex with the then-34-year-old actor at his California home—an act that constitutes statutory rape under state law. She noted that while they discussed the age of consent, Leto “kind of shrugged it off, like it wasn’t a huge concern for him.”

• Etta alleges receiving inappropriate sexual phone calls from the actor in 2014 when she was 16, following a meeting at a Los Angeles modeling agency. She claims she was later asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she declined to sign but shared with BBC producers.

Patterns and Past Accusations

Public scrutiny surrounding Leto intensified last year when LA DJ Allie Teilz posted a historic 2012 screenshot on Instagram stating:

“Youre [sic] not really in LA until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage at an M83 show.. In a Kilt.. And a snow hat.”

In a statement addressing the cancellations, a BBC spokesperson acknowledged the painful nature of the decisions:

“We are incredibly proud of all three of these much-loved shows and would like to thank everyone involved, both in front of and behind the camera, for bringing them to screen and making them such a success over many years. Unfortunately, we have to make some really tough choices in light of our funding challenges, and these savings have been identified from the Entertainment genre.”

The cuts form the first wave of a wider proposal to strip £500 million out of the broadcaster’s overall budget over the next three years.

• Fewer Original TV Hours: The content savings will force a reduction of 100 to 150 hours of original TV programming across genres by 2027/28.

Despite the heavy blows to linear television programming, the BBC insisted it remains committed to original entertainment and independent UK production companies.

To soften the blow to the comedy sector—which relies heavily on Live at the Apollo as a career stepping stone for rising stand-ups—the BBC hinted at a pivot toward lower-cost digital platforms:

“We will still continue to commission ambitious Entertainment shows and invest in distinctive UK content from a wide range of independent production companies of all sizes, as well as prioritising digital innovation that can serve fans of these shows and beyond — for example, we will shortly be announcing digital plans focused on stand-up and emerging comedy talent, ensuring we continue to support the stand-up community in a rapidly changing and increasingly competitive media landscape.”

More cancellations and budget reductions across the BBC’s Content division are expected to be announced in the coming months.
